There is a great selection of tents made for the beach, it can often be overwhelming choosing which is the best beach tent for you. So here I have listed some things you should be looking out for when choosing your beach tent and also some of my personal favorite beach tents. Let’s get to it!
5 Things to Consider Before Purchase
#1 Structure and Stability
One of the most important things to consider when buying a beach tent is its structural integrity. This is often because it is typically much more exposed than other tents. So therefore it is important to have a tent which will stand strong against high winds.
The best thing I can recommend for considering this is to look at the amazon reviews for a product and see what people are saying in regards to protection. I would also look at the design on the tent. A tent that has a more upright structure will often struggle more against the strong winds on the beach. Of course you may know that the winds won’t be strong where you are planning to use your tent so you wouldn’t have to consider this as much.
#2 Setup Time
Typically, people who are in the market to buy a beach tent want a tent that is easy to set up and take down. This is usually because they will have to do it every day unlike a typical camper that only may need to do it once a trip. So it’s really important to have a tent that can be set up quickly and taken down and packed up just as quickly. Look for tents that advertise fast set up times. All the tent I have recommended in the next segment all meet that criteria so check them out.
#3 Compact or Not
Makes sure your beach tent is compact and easy to transport. There is nothing more annoying than having to carry around a heavy tent around with you. It’s particularly important that you choose a beach tent that’s lightweight and can be transported easily. Look at the product pictures and check what comes with the tent. This is usually a solid sign of what to expect.
Most beach tents are surprising inexpensive. Though I would advise paying a little more to get that extra quality. You are going to get a better experience when you buy a more premium tent and more often a longer lifespan.
Try to get a tent that offers a solid warranty. Not only does this give you cover if something did go wrong with the tent. But it also shows that the company that created the product is willing to stand behind it and this usually is a great indication of a quality product.
My Top 5
Let me start with this tent by talking about the very fast set up and take down time. It’s as simple as laying the tent legs out and pull the hub up and you are done. It’s only a matter of minutes to do the whole process which allows you to get on with enjoying your relaxing time at the beach!
This tent has 2 windows, one on either side. They are versatile and can opened and tucked away in you want to let more air through. If you are someone who likes to stay in the shade this tent is brilliant. When the windows are covered it’s with a dark netting which keeps the sun out very well.
The portability of this tent is 2nd to none. It’s made of a lightweight material and everything that is included feels easy to lift and carry around. It’s worth mentioning that the carry bag can easily fit the tent and its gear back into the bag and you have room for even more stuff if you need like towels, books and shoes could be easily put in as well as the tent itself. This is really nice because it’s often the opposite. Companies make the carry bag too small and its makes it a cumbersome task sometimes fitting everything back in the bag. This tent is the complete opposite!
As you may have already guessed this tent is very similar to the previous one. It’s basically a bigger version than the other one. So let me highlight a few of the features that I like about this tent that I really enjoy with this tent.
There are 5 sand pockets on the outside of the tent where sand can be added to improve the stability of the tent in windier conditions. This is of course in addition to the stakes that are included. Basically this makes the tent a strong and sturdy tent even when the wind is blowing strongly.
Again this tent is just as simple and easy to setup and take down as its smaller counterpart and very light and convenient to transport. Check out this video for more details on the tents setup.
Of course the thing I love about all pop up tents is their set up time and there is no exception here. This tent will literally pop up! The only thing for the set up here to secure its base down with the stakes and a little extra sand if required which the integrated outside pockets.
This tent is very lightweight and portable and comes with a convenient bag to pack everything back together. Due to its round shape the bag wouldn’t be ideal if you are wanting to put it inside a backpack, it will most likely not fit. You will have to carry it separately most likely.
In terms of the space inside, there is plenty room for an adult to sit in a chair and have room for other things like towels and water to the side. This tent is also an ideal beach shade tent or a beach tent for baby. The main reason being the privacy that it offers and the UV 50+ protection to keep your baby protected from those nasty UV rays is brilliant.
This is one of the more spacious tents. It can comfortably enclose 3 adults sitting or 2 children and 2 adults. It could probably house 4 adults sitting but it would most likely be a tight fit. This is definitely one of the most roomy beach tents I have ever seen.
As with all the tents I have mentioned it is very lightweight and it would be a breeze to carry and transport anywhere that you do desire. Though don’t be fooled even though its lightweight it’s still very sturdy and well-made and I personally love the floor. Set up is a breeze with this tent. It will be set up in a matter of minutes no problems whatsoever.
This tent is an instant tent meaning it’s set up is instant, and it really does. Take the tent out of the bag and boom its up. It’s that simple. It can be secured down with the incorporated sand bags or pegs to be used on an earth material. This thing is massive inside, in terms of overall space provided that is sheltered this is definitely a winner! It can easily house 3 adults that are sitting in chairs.
One tip I would recommend is that you follow the instructions when it comes to putting this tent in the bag, it’s very easy to do once you know how, which I initially tried before without the help of the instructions, silly me.
One final thing to mention is the structure of this tent. One may assume due to its slightly more upright stature it may struggle with high winds. But this couldn’t be more wrong. I have used it with 20-30mph winds and it didn’t move really at all, mainly thanks to the 4 sand bags that helped keep it securely in place! One final thing to mention is that this tent comes with a lifetime warranty so if you did have any issues with the tent you are covered which is a great weight of your shoulders. This is one of the best beach shelters on the market today.
The best beach tent has to be the Pacific Breeze EasyUp Beach Tent Deluxe XL. This beach tent has it all: amazingly fast setup and take down time, very compact/lightweight and easy to transport, extremely spacious and roomy inside, uv 50+ protection and lots and lots more.
